study in rural New Zealand

International Students

Blue Mountain College, Tapanui, is a small co-educational school catering for students aged between 11 to 20 years old.

We are based in a beautiful part of the world at the foot of New Zealand's Blue Mountains, so it is no surprise to us why students from all over the globe choose to undertake study at our college. We encourage you to seize the opportunity to study in an English speaking school that oozes Kiwi culture, provides friendly hospitality through homestay accommodation, and a chance to experience a rural lifestyle.

Only 1.3 hours from Dunedin Airport and 2.20 hours from Queenstown International Airport, we are centrally located in the township of Tapanui and accessible to some of New Zealand's most stunning scenery and popular tourist destinations.

The roles of Homestay Coordinator, ESOL teacher and Director of International Students are filled by one person, which makes it easier for our international students to settle in. They have a person they can trust and turn to should they need additional support or someone to confide in. The students are helped holistically, which aids all aspects of their progress and enjoyment.

Being a small school, our international students will be embraced by the local students and teaching staff, so that they quickly feel part of the school community, giving them the best possible chance of success.

Student Testimonials

Sayaka from Japan

Translation

Blue Mountain College is a small school in Tapanui. There are lots of good places and I am enjoying my daily life here. Because it's a country school, every student knows each other well, relationships are very good. Also  everyone is kind and friends are easy to make.

Life in New Zealand is different from Japan. There are up to 5 classes a day, and after school we can do our favourite things, such as sports and volunteer activities. Every day is a fulfilling day. The teachers also teach studiously ESOL classes, identifying your current skill level to help you improve.
